Style: Scandinavian

The first interior design style I fell in love with was Scandinavian. I have Swedish family, and each time they remodeled their homes I would go over and become inspired. Scandinavian inspired interiors are very simple, cozy, modern and often geometric. There are lots of wooden details, large hanging lamps, patterned items, texture, low beds, functional storage, chunky blankets and curved chairs. The color scheme is mainly neutral with tiny pops of color in plants, pillows and knick knacks. Here are some of my favorite Scandinavian interior photographs.

Style Crush: Sasha Luss


Sasha Luss is by far my favorite high fashion model of all time. She was born and Russia and grew up doing ballet, then at age thirteen was signed to a modeling agency. Since then, she has walked for Chanel, Lanvin, Valentino, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dior and Elie Saab. She has been on the cover of Vogue Russia twice, captivating everyone with her platinum blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. Personally, I adore her off duty style. Like me, she loves stripes, leather jackets, fur coats and black designer handbags. I've collected some of my favorite shots of her below.

Style: Window Paned Walls

Lately I've been loving spaces that are divided up by paneled windows, as pictured below. Instead of closing off your space with traditional walls, it opens up place more and brings an industrial feel as well. Why hide your rooms away? Show them off!

Inspiration: Florence


The moment I learned that I would be going to Florence, Italy this summer for 10 days, I burst into tears. Florence has been at the very top on my travel list for years, and to be able to visit my family and all the art museums and restaurants I've dreamed about is absolutely incredible. My family is Italian, and my Aunt took this picture above from the view of her home. You can see the city of Florence just over the tree line. Here are some photographs I've collected that are currently inspiring me and making me want this summer to be tomorrow!

The Edit: Zara Home

Zara is my favorite fashion brand and is now also a favorite interior design shop. They just launched their Spring / Summer 2015 Home Collection, and every item makes me want to move to Greece or Sicily or an island home and have a lovely garden out back! It's full of Mediterranean inspired pieces that evoke a cool, calming aura.

Style: Studio Apartment


My first apartment will most likely be a studio - tiny and cramped. As someone who is extremely claustrophobic, I need all the help I can get with inspiration and tips on how to make a tiny space, well, spacious (all white walls and floors, under-bed storage, keeping the bed separate/divided from rest of space, minimalist style, rolling clothes racks, a loft bed with desk underneath, and lots of shelves). The Edit: Peonies

Peonies are my all time favorite flower. I love all the colors them come in and how they smell. I want to cover my future apartment with vases and vases of peonies. I especially love how they look in clear, square glass vases, surrounded by candles and stacks of books on a coffee table. If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll know that peonies will definitely be a part of my wedding bouquet. They're simple, classy and elegant (and the favorite flower of Blair Waldorf, which makes them all the more perfect). Here are some lovely photographs of peonies to brighten your day!

I've been very inspired by black and white interiors lately. Black and white has taken over both my Polyvore home and fashion set aesthetics, and it's tied into my love for minimalism. Style: Rustic


I was first quite hesitant about rustic interiors, but after some careful digging on Pinterest and Tumblr (and reading through my interior design books), I've come to love it. Rustic doesn't have to mean log cabin / farmhouse design. It can mean exposed brick, gorgeous wooden furniture, skin rugs, open spaces (or cozy / small spaces) and cute floor lamps.

Inspiration: French By Design

As you well know, I love everything French. This includes the blog French By Design, run by the lovely Si. Though the blog also includes fashion, beauty, food and DIY posts, which I also love, my favorites are of course the interior design ones. The Edit: Daenerys Targaryen (Khaleesi)

Game of Thrones is by far one of my favorite shows of all time. I have read all the books and absolutely adore the way George RR Martin paints his characters. His descriptions can go on for several pages, which is one of the reasons why I fell in love with the character of Daenerys Targaryen.

In the show, she is portrayed by the lovely Emilia Clarke, and the costume designs for Daenerys are incredible. It gives me lots of inspiration, so I have decided to share with you the gowns I would choose for Daenerys to wear! I would love to see her in more elegant, detailed, breathtaking designs now that (SPOILER ALERT) she is making her grab for the Iron Throne. It would also be interesting to see her in more full designs, like some of the ones from Krikor Jabotian. Which look is your favorite?

Inspiration: Paris

I'm a bit book obsessed, and very Paris obsessed, so one of my most recent book purchases was Paris: An Inspiring Tour of the City's Creative Heart by Janelle McCulloch. It's filled with gorgeous photographs of my favorite city in the world (besides NYC of course) and gives information about cute little places that the tourists don't know about. This leads into my next inspiration post and photo montage all about Paris! 

I've done Parisian interiors, now it's time to honor the city in it's full glory. The architecture, the fashion, the lights, the food, the sights... That Paris exists and people choose to live anyone else amazes me.

Style: Bohemian Vintage


You know I love eclectic interiors, and bohemian vintage style interiors bring that to a whole new level. A mix of old and new, it looks like every piece came from a vintage market or was passed down through generations. Combined with the free spirit feel of the bohemian details, this style is perfect for anyone who loves open spaces and no design restrictions.

Travel Diary: Washington D.C. & Georgetown

I went to the D.C. area twice in a month, once with my journalism class and once to visit universities, and collected a whole album of photos. D.C. is one of my favorite cities to visit. I love the Smithsonian, National Mall and Georgetown shopping! There are also lots of cute little restaurants and cafés (I had the best pancakes of my life at Sorriso Café, pictured below). I'm not going to university here, but I will continue to visit as much as possible. Here are my favorite photos from my two trips this year.

Style: Minimalistic

Clean. Simple. Fresh. Bright. Cool. Open. Minimalist. These are the words that come to mind now when I think of minimalistic interiors. Before, I thought of the word boring, but a minimalist interior just means that the space is left as open as possible. It's uncluttered and cool - each detail is chosen for a reason, so each detail matters and makes a statement. The floor and hanging lamps, clothing racks, city posters and white bedding are staples of a minimalist space.

Personally, I prefer monochrome minimalist interiors, but light wooden ones like this can bring a cozy, almost boho vibe. Here are some of my favorite photos of my preferred aesthetic, and this pin and this post will give you some times on how to achieve the minimalist look.

The Edit: Free People


Like Urban Outfitters, Free People is definitely more of a dorm room sort of shop if your looking at it from an interior design angle. Even though it doesn't have furniture or bedding, Free People's lovely blankets (my favorite is the chunky cable knit one featured above), posters, pillows, chimes and vintage records will give any room a lovely, boho, free feel.

Style: Luxe


Even though I know I could never fully live like this, a small part of me still wants to live in the lap of luxury. I would never go all out luxury, but instead take little bits and details of the luxe apartment style and incorporate them into the eclectic apartment in my head. For example, velvet furnishings / sofas, chandeliers, pouf-y chaises, grand lounge chairs / seats and gilded mirrors are perfect ways to bring a little bit of opulence to your home.
