Inspiration: Indie / Artist Studio
I'm not the most artistic person, I'm creative in different ways, but I so appreciate artist's studios and apartments - the apartment becomes their masterpiece. This picture above is by far one of my favorite pictures of an interior of all time. The wall mural's colors go so well with the colors of the furniture and rug. Here are some more photos of indie / artist studio interiors that I love. I love how the artist (I believe his name is Martyn Thompson) uses his space freely, as his canvas, so he can express himself at any time.

Inspiration: London
London has always been at the top on my list of places to visit. My friends and family who have visited can never stop talking about it, and British culture has captivated Americans for years. The city's dark beauty is breathtaking - here are some of my favorite photos that show just that.

Inspiration: Elie Saab
Elie Saab (along with Zuhair Murad) is my favorite couture designer of all time. There is a post on Tumblr that says "if I don't get married in an Elie Saab dress then what's the point?" When I first discovered Elie Saab about four or five years ago, I went on Style.com and went through all their past shows. It was love at first sight. Each new show amazes me, and Mr. Saab stays so true to his aesthetic. Here are my favorite Elie Saab looks, the first one in the collection being the dress Blair Waldorf wore to marry Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl. Above is Saab's latest couture show from Paris, which I livestreamed on my laptop early in the morning! Which look is your favorite?

Style: Rose Gold / Copper
Rose gold is by far my favorite metal, and I adore all rose gold / copper home decor. From bathtubs, to lamps, to kitchen appliances, to chairs, to pipes and frames, rose gold makes a subtle, sweet statement. Here are my favorite interiors with rose gold accents.

Inspiration: Rue Rodier
As my Parisian obsession continues, I discovered the lovely lifestyle blog Rue Rodier, run by Marissa Cox, who chronicles her adventures in moving to Paris. She also profiles her friends' apartments, along with her own, in interior design posts. Her Instagram feed is also incredible! Here are some of my favorite shots from her blog.

Style: Modern
One style that has taken some time for me to warm to is modern. Before I thought modern houses had no personality or charm, that they were created just to make a style statement. I've realized that modern style doesn't have to mean one floor houses in the woods with barely any furniture. It can mean loft apartments with spiral staircases, monochrome and leather, wide open spaces, industrial lighting, state of the art stainless steel kitchen appliances mixed with marble countertops, sunken living rooms and wooden beams. Here are some photos of my favorite modern interiors.

Inspiration: Planet Deco
I discovered Planet Deco, run by Lilly Rose, through my recommended blogs on Bloglovin. It's entirely in French, with some translations, so it keeps my French up outside of the classroom as well. Lilly profiles various apartments and homes around the world with gorgeous photographs and floor plans, most with a Scandinavian / Parisian / Minimalist style. Here are some of my favorite photographs from her blog!

Style: Beach House / Cottage
I grew up going to the beach every summer to my 100 year old little beach house that has been in the family since the Great Depression. After Hurricane Sandy hit, we took the opportunity to put our own style stamp on the place and get rid of the pastel patchwork curtains. After several trips to IKEA, we made the house truly our own. Beach house / cottage interior design style is so relaxing, calming and simple. Little seashell, driftwood, sea glass and ocean details give the place charm. I love the wooden pillars, open doors, huge windows, white wooden walls, sea blue accents, cozy couches, wrap around porches, swinging benches and white beach chairs. Here are some photos I've collected of beach houses I love!

Style Crush: Nicola Peltz
I stumbled across Nicola Peltz on my Tumblr dashboard last month and fell in love with her style. Her style is simply elegant, and she wears brands like Stella McCartney, Miu Miu and Balenciaga. She attends fashion week and parties with Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Hailee Steinfeld. I don't know how I haven't heard of her earlier! Here are some of my favorite looks of hers, from red carpets to Vogue fashion shoots to fashion week street style. Which look is your favorite?

Style: Industrial
The industrial loft is definitely my ideal architecture style. I love the wire chandeliers, spiral staircases, low beds, huge couches, rolling clothes racks, paneled windows, loft balconies, exposed brick, open spaces and high ceilings. I would fill it with bulb lights, leather couches, simple pillows, antique fireplaces, ladders, low coffee tables, skin rugs, wire coat hangers, bicycles, unique furniture, plants, huge bookcases and clawfoot bathtubs. This clash of vintage and modern really suits my aesthetic. Here are some photos I've collected to share with you. I hope they inspire you as much as they inspire me.

Inspiration: Ballet / Edgar Degas
When I was little girl, I took ballet classes, and I regret every day not continuing them. I admire the strength and beauty that ballet dancers have so much, and the grandeur, costumes and hard work behind the ballet inspires me. Another addition to my minor ballet obsession is the work of impressionist painter Edgar Degas. I believe he successfully captured the fantasy and mystery, the dreamlike qualities, of the ballet through his flowing, colorful works of art. Here are some photos I've collected to share with you, mostly from Garance Doré (who has two lovely blog posts about the New York Ballet, something that I've always dreamed about going to see) and, of course, Edgar Degas.

The Edit: Indie Playlist
Above is my Spotify playlist of almost 200 of my favorite (mostly) indie songs (thanks to my main girl Lauren for enlightening me). I first created this playlist in October and have added new songs as I discover them. Some of my favorite bands are San Cisco, Walk the Moon, Bleachers, The 1975 and Grouplove. Even though I listen to this playlist 90% of the time, I also love listening to Ed Sheeran and classic rock banks like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones (my favorite song of all time is Wild Horses) - I inherited a lot of my music taste from my father. Comment below what your favorite songs and bands are!

Style: French Country
You all know by now that I'm definitely an apartment girl, leaning toward a Parisian / Eclectic / Minimalist style, but if I ever had a house in the country, I would definitely design and decorate it in the French Country style. I love the elegant kitchens, chandeliers, neutral color scheme, carved wardrobes, flowers and farmhouse details. Here are some photos that inspire me!

Inspiration: Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Van Gogh is my favorite artist of all time. His work not only inspires me, but so do his words. He was so full of sadness. “Vincent Van Gogh used to eat yellow paint because he thought it would get the happiness inside him. Many people thought he was mad and stupid for doing so because the paint was toxic, never mind that it was obvious that eating paint couldn’t possible have any direct correlation to one’s happiness, but I never saw that. If you were so unhappy that even the maddest ideas could possible work, like painting the walls of your internal organs yellow, than you are going to do it. It’s really no different than falling in love or taking drugs. There is a greater risk of getting your heart broken or overdosing, but people still do it everyday because there was always that chance it could make things better. Everyone has their yellow paint.”
All he ever wanted was for others to love him and appreciate his work, but he only sold one painting in his lifetime. He vented his complex emotions into his work until the day he died by committing suicide, so it is said. Today, he is regarded as one of the greatest painters and men of all time, and his paintings sell for millions of dollars and grace the walls of the most famous museums in the world. If only he could see what his legacy has become. I wish I could travel back in time and give him a blanket and some hot chocolate and assure him that he will be appreciated some day, or make like Doctor Who and time travel him to the Musée d'Orsay in Paris or the Vincent Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. I wish he could have known how happy he makes me and so many others. Here are some of my favorite paintings and quotes of his, many taken from his letters to his little brother Theo, and the Doctor Who video I mentioned.

Travel Diary: New York City
Here are some photographs I took from my last trip to New York City, specifically from Central Park and Washington Square Park. The first photo of WSP is my home screen on my iPhone. It makes me so happy to see it every day. New York is by far my favorite place to be.

Style: Cozy
After a long day out of the house, all I want to do is curl up in my bed and watch Netflix or read a book or write. Cozy interiors make the experience all the more perfect. Chunky blankets, furry rugs, fluffy duvets, giant pillows and huge beds all in warm, neutral colors make any space super cozy. Here are some photos to inspire your cozy space.

Style Crush: Alexa Chung
You may have seen her in my current fashion favorites post, so you know that Alexa Chung is one of my top style icons. Her menswear inspired clearly British style has inspired me for years. From her book "It" to her collaborations with Mulberry and AG Jeans to her amazing street style, Alexa is definitely someone to follow. I would love for her to start her own blog, but for now I'll have to settle for photo shoots, Instagram and the paparazzi.
